DAMODAR FERRO LIMITADA (DFL) is a mining company, principally focused on mining and exploration assets in Mozambique.
We are the only mining company producing, processing and exporting iron ore of Mozambican origin. In addition to developing iron ore projects, which remain at DFL’s core, DFL has several exploration projects at various stages of development in Mozambique.
We have been operating in Mozambique for over a decade, and have gained on – ground experience in taking projects from Greenfield to commercial production.
Our strategy is to identify, explore and develop natural resource assets of small to medium size, with good economics. With this aim, our projects are selected based on the following robust criteria:
- Near-surface mineralization with low cost mining and processing requirements.
- Commodities that have a niche market potential.
- Projects with favourable logistics and good infrastructure.
DFL is a subsidiary of “Resources International”, an established family owned iron ore miner and exporter based in Goa, India. The family has established business of mining in Goa for the last 60 years which was set up by the group founder Late Shri Damodar J. Rajani who started his life in Mozambique.
ABOUT RESOURCES INTERNATIONAL
Resources International was set up in 1987, and started off as an earthwork and civil construction contractor for the Nuclear Power Corporation and Larsen & Toubro for Kaiga Atomic Power Plant Project. During this project which lasted for more than a decade, Resources International transformed itself from a earthwork and civil works contractor to positioning itself as a leading supplier iron ores from Goa to the European steel mills (France and Romania) and to MMTC Ltd. (a Government of India Undertaking), and several established traders of iron ore for export to China.
Resources International were also handling logistics for MMTC’s export operations right from unloading of railway wagons, storage, barging and loading of vessels for their iron ore exports from Goa.
High density Iron Ore: Through MMTC Ltd, Resources International procured and supplied over several hundred thousand tons of high density iron ore produced from NMDC’s Donimalai Mine for a pipe coating (concrete weight coating) project in the Far East. Resources International also supplied several thousand tons of high density iron ore lumps from a different source for the Atomic Power Plant at Kaiga, Karnataka India.
